Sometimes at the end of the day, you just need a friend to tell you,
“Honey, I know how you feel. I’ve been there. Let me tell you about this one time…”

I’m so glad you’re here.

Apron Stringz is a special space where I unpack the many and tangled yarns of motherhood and even humanhood, and what it means to make a Home.

My writing here describes the arc of a mama. I began, some 15 years ago, by hashing out the experience of “staying home” and putting one’s energy into such a small and humble job, when you are a modern day feminist who’s used to getting more notable shit done.

Towards the end of the Apron Stringz era, I come out the other end of the intense mama-daze, and explore what it means to be a mama of older kids, where there is a bit of blessed breathing room once again.

Wherever you are on that arc, I trust you will find solace and solidarity here, and maybe a few laughs too. Welcome.

Hello You Shy Confused Feminist, You

When did we start belittling the job of making human beings?

Why Are We Doing This?

A defense, to myself above all, on the importance of making a home.

The Book

Although many people have told me I should write a book, I have yet to tackle that terrifying project. Instead, I have many years worth of posts, the best of which I offer to you here, arranged into an order that makes at least some scrap of sense.

Consider this my book, available anytime free of charge, dedicated to you dear reader.

PS. Is the curated “book” not enough? Want to join the tiny club of real Apron Stringz geeks, and read every single post? Disclaimer: I cannot be held responsible for how few chores will get done while diving into this rabbit hole….
